Can't Use Local Rubbish Dump Anymore.

i don't know about any of you but by us the local council as just introduced a height bar over the access road to the local municipal tip, as a paying member to society(council tax) i feel it is my right to use my car to deliver my rubbish to my local rubbish collection centre.

WRONG: the local council recon if you turn up at their local site your a 'fly tipper' or 'tradesperson' trying to get rid of on the cheap.

they should have some sort of vehicle/perso check for residency to that tip, there by giving you a paying member FULL access? but councils being councils they can't be bothered, you miss a payment, and boom there on to you.

and to top it all while i was sitting there being told of this new rule, they only opened the bloddy barrier up to let a transit in because 'he knew him'!

My local tip is the same, its like twenty questions when you take stuff there, They then wonder why so many people end up flytipping (I never would by the way!!)

 

The reason flytipping occurs is because its simply too much hassle trying to dispose of it legitimately at the local tip.

 

If you are going there every week with a van load of rubbish then fair enough. And like you say they let in their friends with huge vans which quite clearly contain trade waste.

Exactly how low is the barrier? surely if it's a private vehicle ie. none sign written van/comercial vehicle you should be allowed to use the tip :ph34r: I cant use my local tip as I have a comercial vehicle that is fully spammed up with the company logo :ph34r: but I can turn up in my galaxy and use the tip :lol: and dispose of my work waste :o I prefer to use the van as it's easier to clean out afterwards :)

a while back our local tip was sub contracted out to a private firm, it was when this company took over that goods vehicles were banned from the site, before this they stopped you at the gate and asked what you were dumping, private or trade waste? if it was household/garden waste they let you in if not they had a look and said yes or no? a lot of the times they said yes just to keep the queue moveing, now the first sight of a good vehicle or a company logo on your vehicle they are out in force takeing your details and threatening to report you to the police/council/inviromental health........ :huh: I'm always tempted to report the to the tax man to see if they declare the income from the stuff they sell on the site that they take out of the skips :huh: just to be bloody awkward I make sure that anything I disposed of there is so badly damaged that they cant sell it :D

My classic example is the time the guy came and asked me what I did for a living? it was there in front of him in 2 foot high letters plastered down the side of the van I had at the time :ph34r: I replied I'm a gynocolgist :lol: whats that then he said? I said I deal with thick C##TS like you all day :huh: much to the enjoyment of the other people standing around listening :)

Just looking in from the outside, what does it matter to you if you were happy to throw it away? It could be argued that it's more environmentally friendly that useable stuff is taken out of the skips and used again.

 

I personally make a point of anything that might have value I mention to the operators and yes they normally take it, the plus side is that if I take my towavan trailer on the back of the Gal, they will raise the barrier for me :lol:

:lol: Newcastle council have just introduced a scheme where you have to apply for a permit if you want to tip rubbish using a trailer -regardless of if you're a trader or householder-then they wonder why people fly tip!

IIRC our local tip will allow you in if you have a privately owned van and are dumping household waste but only at certain times and on selected days :lol: unfortuanatly these are times when most people are at work so unless you want to take a day off and lose money your screwed :lol: and have to pay a trader to dispose of your waste which is most likely fly tipped as he wont pay to use the trade tip :lol:

the question was asked to see if simular problems have been encountered around the uk :lol: by other gal users, its called a forum for gal type questions, this is applicable as the barrier as been lowered to stop all non car sized entries, this is not fair in my opinion, and others to who have replied.

so mr/mrs crusher :lol: take your idiotic attempts at forum sucking up to your local tip and see if you can gain entry. :)

We have a strange situation in Northampton where with some items they go by how many.

 

So rip out your old bathroom and you have a toilet, cistern, bath, basin and pedestal and your fine. Shower tray or bidet too, then you have more than six items and you have to pay! But take a hammer to the cistern and pedestal and put the broken stuff in a rubble bag or two and thats fine.

 

Take out an old kitchen, flatten the units and thats OK, but take them down still built and you pay if there are more than 6 items.

Last year when I had my L.W.B Semi high Tansit I rang the Council and they sent me a form to fill out that allowed me to use the tip 12 times a year, it was a bit of a pain but without it they would'nt let me tip.

Bonus was every now and then I would do a garden clearence and make a few bob. ;)

why do we pay such high 'council tax' every year to be told we cannot enter a community waste site which (if your paying said tax) allows you to full access anyway?

i understand the need to stop 'cowboys' and commercial waste at these sort of sights but to try and sort it by stopping all high sided vehicles especially ones considered to be a 'kids run' vehicle?

i will be writting to the local newspapers this weekend with a simular story, happy now 'crusher'? ps reply to my pm in that way again and i will be reporting you, you sad lonely works computer abuser ;)

I have an ID card that is accepted at more places that American Express :angry: . I would not use the galaxy though - even crisp crumbs are not allowed in it

 

With regards to the barrier height, there should be access via another entrance - after all how to the wagons get in? Or just stop at the entrenace and hold up the queue behind untill they let you in

mmmmmmm, compared to that lot, my local tip is very easy going :)

 

there is height barriers, but their high enough get a galaxy under it.

yeah, the barrier is lifted for some owners but the quee is normally a mile long by now, it's always in the local paper for the road blocking caused by the councils stupidity concerning the tip and how it is marshalled.

they are now saying the measures have been introduced to stop 'out of towners' using our local tip. if that is the case how have they been able to confirm this ? via what process control did they use because if they can be that accurate before, why not have some sort of system to tell the difference between commercial and public now? :)

i use this sight for informational purposes as i am no 'grease monkey' diy or pro, i have nothing but admiration for those people, so i come here for tips and help.
